About us

Hi there, I am ANiTA WAZ Demon & Designer of Bristol.
Welcome to the world of WAZ!

A bit about me I started sewing from a young age and always loved dressing up. Growing up in Cornwall meant there weren’t many options to shop in , which led me to falling in love with vintage markets & charity shops. As my style grew so did my confidence, with each purchase came comfort in who I was as a young queer teen. I altered clothes and created from scratch for years before heading to Plymouth Arts University to study Fashion Design.

In 2018 I graduated with a 1st class honours degree and went into the world of fashion, working at huge brands to tiny start ups trying to find my passion.   A few years ago I decided to take a leap of faith and leave my 9-5 garment tech role to grow my business from the ground up.

“How did you end up making for drag queens?” You ask. Well remember that fun time in 2020…. I finally had the courage and time to start Drag in my bedroom at home.. and although back then I wasn’t very good it became a wonderful creative outlet. Almost 3 years ago I moved to Bristol and this is the key turning point, ANiTA WAZ was born and it seemed that ANiTA was the outlet I needed to give me the confidence to follow my dreams.

The last 2 years have been a whirlwind of amazing commissions and loyal clients. Each and every single one has taught me so much and helped create who I am today. Over the last few years I couldn’t help but see that there is a gap especially for young performers starting out, and it got me thinking. What if there were lower cost items, made from scrap materials from commissions etc.. available to bridge the gap between unsustainable fast fashion and entirely custom commissions and that right there is my goal!

Working alongside my custom orders I aim to design, create and release drops of different items, some pre-made, some made to order and hopefully this will allow me to build a high quality range available and accessible to all.

I hope to create a brand that fills a gap and gives you something to feel incredible in wherever you might be going, however you might identify, whoever you might love and most importantly whatever personality you want to be today x
